The threat of severe weather is increasing for late this afternoon and evening across the Panhandles. The most favored area for damaging winds in excess of 85mph is over a good portion of the TX Panhandle where SPC has indicated an Enhanced Risk of severe weather for later this afternoon and evening. There is also the possibility of large hail up to quarter size along with localized areas of very heavy rainfall.
Here is what you need to know:
The Threat Level: There is a Level 3 out of 5 (Enhanced) risk for severe storms across most of the Texas Panhandle late this afternoon and evening.
Main Hazards: The primary threats with the strongest storms will be damaging wind gusts up to 85 mph, quarter-sized hail (1.0"), and very localized flooding. The tornado risk remains very low.
