Although the atmosphere remains rather dry today, a weather disturbance moving into the area from the east will have enough moisture to work with to produce widely scattered to scattered coverage of thunderstorms this afternoon into early this evening. These storms may extend as far west to include the Tucson Metro Area. The drier air will limit rainfall amounts from storms, but will increase the capability of these storms to produce gusty thunderstorm outflow winds 40-50 mph. The best chance for wind gusts in excess of 50 mph will be across the Gila River and San Simon valleys late this afternoon and early this evening.
